Two iconic courses., two different playing experiences and now a shared momentum. On the east coast of Mauritius, Anahita Golf and Île aux Cerfs Golf Club are being brought together within a new Golf Cluster led by Sunlife, which manages both sites. The objective is clear: build on the natural synergies between these two major golfing destinations and offer players a more coherent, seamless experience.
Why create a golf cluster now?
This new structure marks a strategic step forward. It establishes a single organisation with a shared vision, pooled expertise and aligned standards, allowing both courses to continue raising the bar while remaining true to their individual identities.
The principle is straightforward. It is about leveraging the complementarity between Anahita Golf, defined by its land-and-lagoon setting, technical layout and wide open spaces, and Île aux Cerfs Golf Club, a striking island course accessible by boat. Together, they form a destination designed to stand alongside leading international golf references, under the direction of Tristan Freslon, who has led Anahita Golf for the past three years.
Two signature courses, one shared commitment to quality
Anahita Golf, designed by Ernie Els
Opened in 2008 and built to USGA standards, Anahita Golf has become a key course in the Indian Ocean region. Its 18-hole championship layout sits between mountains and lagoon, with several holes along the shoreline that rank among the most memorable in Mauritius.
Île aux Cerfs Golf Club, designed by Bernhard Langer
Just minutes away across the lagoon, the experience changes entirely. This par-72, 18-hole course by Bernhard Langer is set on a tropical island. The journey is part of the experience, as the course is accessible only by boat.
What the Golf Cluster brings for players:
Beyond the name, the cluster is about adding clarity and value to an already rare two-course offering:
- A more integrated experience, with two styles of play supported by consistent service standards and a clearer reading of the destination as a whole.
- Stronger operational synergies, including shared standards, closer coordination and continued development of teams and expertise across course operations, guest services, the pro shop and events.
- A more legible golf destination, where visitors and residents alike can clearly identify the east of Mauritius as home to two 18-hole signature courses within a single, coherent environment.
An ambition that goes beyond the game
This initiative also reflects a broader shift in how golf destinations are developed. Growth goes hand in hand with long-term stewardship and site preservation. In this respect, Sunlife highlights the environmental initiatives underway at Île aux Cerfs Golf Club, where the course has publicly shared its progress towards GEO certification.
The start of a new momentum
The Anahita and Île aux Cerfs Golf Cluster marks an important milestone for golf on Mauritius’ east coast. Two internationally recognised courses, unified governance and a shared ambition to deliver a golfing experience in Mauritius that is both striking and deeply memorable.
